The SQUID-CMN thermometer of Giffard et al. 1972 (J. Low Temp. Phys. 6. 533) was modified to be self balancing and did not require recalibration each time it was cooled. It was also free from effects of electrical and mechanical transients. In this design a solenoidal coil was added inside the magnetic shield to provide a variable magnetic field which could be added to or subtracted from the trapped field. A digital voltmeter can be used to measure the SQUID output or an analogue dividing circuit can give a temperature display directly in mK. Results for CMN powder are reported.
