Hydraulic control for a transmission with high-low powershift and masterclutch

Patent ·
OSTI ID:7082630
A valve system is described for controlling two fluid activated clutches comprising: a valve body having a bore and a divider for dividing the bore into first and second chambers; a fluid inlet intersecting the bore for permitting pressurized fluid to enter the bore; a fluid outlet intersecting the bore for permitting pressurized fluid to exit the bore; first and second clutch lines intersecting the bore; a spring biased selector valve mounted within the first chamber at one end of the bore having a first position allowing fluid communication between the fluid inlet and the first clutch line and fluid communication between the fluid outlet and the second clutch line. The selector valve has a second position preventing fluid communication between the second clutch line and the fluid outlet, and a third position preventing fluid communication between the first clutch line and the fluid inlet. The selector valve has a fourth position allowing fluid communication between the fluid inlet and the second clutch line, and a fifth position allowing fluid communication between the second clutch line and the fluid inlet and between the first clutch line and the fluid outlet.
