TREAT tests M2 and M3: experiment information and pretest analysis

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/708177· OSTI ID:708177

The purpose of TREAT tests M2 and M3 is to obtain early information on metal-alloy fast reactor fuel during transient overpower conditions. Three EBR-II driver fuel elements of near fresh, medium, and high burnup are to be tested with margin to cladding failure and axial extrusion of foremost interest. Test fuel, hardware, and conditions are described. Pretest predictions of test results as well as the motivation and reasoning behind the chosen test conditions are also given.
