Two extended baseline runs with subbituminous coal were completed this quarter each of which ran for about 120 hours. A material balance is reported for the first run. A pyrolysis kinetics model has been developed. Significant quantities of BTX and phenols in the light fraction of full-range tar have been found. Operability of the hydrotreater has been demonstrated with Arabian vacuum gas oil and PDU-produced tar.
