Strategic Petroleum Reserve sulphur mines decommissioning and Big Hill expansion, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana, and Jefferson County, Texas
The Department of Energy (DOE) has prepared an environmental assessment (EA), for decommissioning the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) Sulphur Mines facility and replacing its crude oil storage capacity by expanding the storage capacity at the SPR Big Hill and SPR Bayou Choctaw facilities. Based on the analyses in the EA, DOE has determined that the proposed action is not a major Federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment within the meaning of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). Therefore, the preparation of an environmental impact statement (EIS) is not required and the Department is issuing this Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI). 16 refs., 3 figs., 5 tabs.
