Lattice dynamics of V/sub 3/Si

The method of inelastic coherent neutron scattering was used to determine the phonon dispersion relations along the symmetry directions (100) and (110) in V/sub 3/Si at room temperature. The results are compared with calculations using the Born--von Karman approach and with calculations using a two-band model. The first model gives better agreement, even when only nearest-neighbor interactions are considered.
