The pressure, current, and voltage distributions at the electrodes in the channel of an MGD accelerator are measured, along with the pressure fields in the test section at the exit from the second-stage nozzle, and the nature of the flow past simple bodies placed in the test section is investigated. The flow is analyzed according to a technique based on a numerical solution of quasi-one-dimensional magnetogasdynamic equation with experimentally measured quantities inserted into them. It is shown that the flow in the MGD channel occurs with an increase in the Mach number and the Mach number and the effective stagnation parameters. The heating produced by the voltage drop in the layers near the electrodes, the growth of the boundary layers, and the friction have a considerable effect on the gas flow in the channel. The flow produced in the test section of the device is suitable for aerodynamic experiments both with reqard to their quality and the reliability of the interpretation of the experimental results.
