Industry sector analysis: Thermal power plant equipment in north China. Export trade informtion

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7076222

The electric power market in the People's Republic of China is the largest in the world. Though China is ranked fourth in the world in total generation capacity, approximately 160 GW at the end of 1992, it is now ranked 80th in kwh per capita. A full 120 million people in 32 counties are 'virtually without power' and brownouts remain common even in the best supplied municipalities. The 1993 market size is an estimated 53 billion yuan (US $9.25 billion). Continuing high-speed growth in this industry makes the prospects for American imports excellent. Growth in American imports is expected to increase at an annual rate of 29% through 1995.
