Based on the experimental findings of the biodegradation of a wastewater containing between 0 and 54 percent colloidal material based on cod and with initial loading conditions varying from 0.158 to 1.083 mg/l cod per mg/l mlss, the following conclusions can be made: (1) Not all colloidal wastewaters exhibit a rapid uptake, substantial release, and final drop in the concentration of organic material. (2) Just because a wastewater contains colloidal organics is no reason to specify a contact stabilization process. (3) A detailed analysis of uptake and release of organic matter from other colloidal wastewaters is warranted to verify whether or not such a phenomena truly exists.
