Evolution of spin of a symmetric satellite with a viscoelastic antenna about its mass center in a circular orbit

To simulate and optimize the solar access and orbital parameters of orbiting solar power plants and their solar reflectors the author uses an averaging method in canonical Anduaie variables to obtain approximate equations describing the evolution of spin of a system consisting of a symmetric rigid satellite in the form of a ring to which is attached a uniform viscoelastic plate. The transverse deformations of the membrane, accompanied by energy dissipation, are seen as the cause of evolution of regular precession. The author finds stationary motions of the system and investigates their stability.
