The Westinghouse Owners' Group (WOG) Trip Reduction and Assessment Program (TRAP) was established in 1985 to respond to the original Nuclear Management and Resources Council (NUMARC) initiative on trip reduction. A dedicated working group comprised of WOG members began to actively pursue the objective of developing generic approaches to reduce the frequency of reactor trips. The interest was in economic benefits, as well as plant reliability and safety. Trip reduction activities and WOG accomplishments are described.
