Fiber optic void fraction sensor

Reliable and accurate sensors and instrumentation for void fraction measurements are not commercially available. We have developed a fiber optic method to make these measurements as a part of a three-phase program: proof of principle, design and fabrication, installation and use during a series of flow channel tests. This paper covers the design, testing, and results for this fiber optic void fraction probe, designed to measure the concentration of liquid water in the flow channel. 20 figs.
