Use vacuum to deaerate injection water

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:7067693
Injection water is being vacuum-deaerated off shore at Cook Inlet and the Arabian Gulf, and at a number of onshore sites. The increased value of natural gas, commonly used as a stripping agent and then flared makes vacuum technology more attractive. Application of vacuum can reduce or eliminate stripping gas use. Equilibrium calculations and general design considerations were covered in an earlier study. This study, a guide to equipment sizing and selection, emphasizes the vacuum tower and vacuum pumps.
