Predict acid consumption and amylene alkylate quality
- STRATCO, Inc., Leawood, KS (United States)
Studies indicate it's more economical to leave amylene in gasoline, but recent changes in gasoline requirements mandate amylene removal in certain regions. The effect of feed composition and operating conditions on alkylating amylenes as well as alkylating olefins from MTBE and TAME units is drawing significant interest. Presently, very little data are available in literature describing commercial results of amylene alkylation. Regardless, alkylate will grow in importance as a major component of reformulated gasolines. While specifications vary, some of the major properties required for reformulated gasolines include lower Rvp, lower olefin and aromatic content and increased oxygen content. Alkylate's low Rvp and paraffinic composition make it an important part of the reformulated program.
