Sediment sampling in six western lakes

Eleven 21 cm diameter sediment cores and 15 water samples were taken from six western lakes. The collected sediment samples will be dated by their /sup 137/Cs fallout patterns. The samples will be analyzed for trace elements and carcinogenic organic compounds associated with the combustion of fossil fuels.
