Heat dissipation of primary and secondary batteries. [25-V, 30-Ah Ni - Cd and 360-Ah Ag - Zn]

Batteries in spacecraft power systems may contribute significant quantities of heat which should be taken into consideration in thermal analysis and design. This note presents a method for determining thermal data by use of an inexpensive calorimeter, the calculations employed, and the results for 30-h, 25-V Ni-Cd and 360-Ah, 25-V Ag-Zn batteries tested.
