Use of corn cobs seed drying through gasification

The use of corn cobs for seed drying in the hybrid seed industry is described. DEKALB's gasifier system is discussed. Particulate emission is controllable without a heat exchanger; gas quality is good; the fuel is bulky and requires special handling; and electricity use is low. The cost of operation of the gasifier is compared with seed drying costs using methane or propane. (DMC)
