Internal combustion engine ignition system
A method is described of controlling the dwell time for each primary winding of a distributorless internal combustion engine ignition system for an internal combustion engine that has cylinders where the ignition system is of a type that has a plurality of primary windings and wherein means are provided, including secondary winding means, to cause a first pair of spark plugs associated with a first pair of different engine cylinders to be fired when primary current in one primary winding is switched on and off and for causing a second pair of spark plugs associated with a second pair of different engine cylinders to be fired when primary winding current in another primary winding is switched on and off. The primary windings are energized sequentially as a function of engine crankshaft position.
