Low-temperature specific heat of PdPb/sub 2/

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. B: Condens. Matter; (United States)

We have measured the low-temperature specific heat in a single crystal PdPb/sub 2/ in the normal and superconducting states. The normal-state data allow us to determine the coefficient of the electronic specific term ..gamma.. = 1.2 mJ/g-at. K/sup 2/, and the Debye temperature FTHETA/sub D/ = 147 K. The electronic specific heat in the superconducting state follows exponential behavior C/sub es//..gamma..T/sub c/ = 11.53 exp (-1.42T/sub c//T) in the temperature range investigated. The data suggest that PdPb/sub 2/ is a weak-coupling superconductor with a high value of the pairing potential.
