We introduce an analog of the Nahm equations for the spatially constant Yang-Mills gauge fields in 8 dimensions. We show that they can be derived from the vanishing of an octonionic moment map. In the case when the gauge group is SU ([infinity]) the octonionic Nahm equations provide a self-duality condition for a membrane in 9 dimensional space-time.
