The hyperfine coupling is nearly isotropic and is consistent with the assignment to the rotating methyl group. The g/sub max/ and g/sub min/ values are 2.088 and 1.999, respectively. The proton coupling constant is 52 G in the rotating methyl group. The CH/sub 3/O. radical in polycrystalline methanol disappeared after annealing for a few minutes at 77/sup 0/K; the CH/sub 3/. also disappeared, suggesting that both the CH/sub 3/O. and CH/sub 3/. radicals were converted into .CH/sub 2/OD. Radical pairs of .CH/sub 3/, .CH/sub 2/OD and two .CH/sub 2/OD were formed. (DLC)
