Ground motion and engineering seismology

Book ·
OSTI ID:7059499
This book contains over forty papers on latest research on ground motion and engineering seismology. The first section is on seismicity and tectonics in the Eastern Mediterranean and covers papers on Jordan, Eurasia, Iran and the Near East. The second section is on seismic waves in soils and geophysical methods. This includes papers on scattering of plate harmonic waves, elastic waves studies, seismic wave transmission and site amplification in Mexico City (1985 records). Section three is on engineering seismology. This includes procedures for seismic hazard analysis, comparison of seismic hazard estimates, and correcting for load site characteristics in seismic hazard analysis. The fourth section is dynamic methods in soil and rock mechanics. This section includes papers on dynamic subsoil-coupling between circular and rectangular foundations, surface waves in layered half-space with bending stiffness and a variety of other analytical papers including several using the Boundary Element Methods. The final section is on ground motion and contains twelve contributions which provide a broad coverage of the topic.
