Reaction of divinyl sulfoxide with 2H,6H-2,6-dimethyl-4-amino-1,3,5dithiazine

It has been shown that 4-butyl-4-octadecyl-1,4-tetrahydrothiazinium-1-oxide bromide, synthesized from divinyl sulfoxide, is an effective flotation reagent and can be used as a collector in purification of wastewaters. With the aim of synthesizing new potential surfactants containing several reactive centers, the authors studied the reaction of divinyl sulfoxide with 2H,6H-2,6-dimethyl-4-amino-1,3,5-dithiazine (I), a product of heterocyclization of divinyl sulfide with thiourea. In that reaction, polyaddition leading to oligomeric products is accompanied by destruction of the heterocyclic compound.
