Control of catalyst deactivation with ammonia: Quarterly report for period September 1, 1986 to November 30, 1986

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:7055563
We have earlier reported that the activity of an aged Ni-Mo hydrotreating catalyst could be substantially increased by a short treatment with a 1:1 hydrogen/NH/sub 3/ mixture. This was initially observed for catalysts with (presumably) carbonaceous deposits from hydrodeoxygenation, but we find that some catalyst activity is also recovered even for catalysts coked with anthracene. We have now screened a variety of process variables to see which combination might be most effective. Reactivation was the greatest in the presence of a liquid phase and some H/sub 2/S (12 kPa) as well as ammonia and H/sub 2/. 1 ref., 2 figs., 1 tab.
