OSTI ID:7055492
This book draws together the differing views of and tools used by cyberneticians, systems analysis, and knowledge engineers into an approach to knowledge-based systems. In particular, the idea of a rule is examined in the context of relational databases, and the differences between knowledge and data are discussed. The concept of extended relational analysis was developed by the author to define conceptual models for applications that require both ''intelligence'' and the potential to use novel computer architectures. The book explores the relationships among knowledge, man and machine with respect to expert systems and computer programs that reason.
