Grading geophysical logging data for quality

Conference · · Am. Assoc. Pet. Geol., Bull.; (United States)
OSTI ID:7053784
Properly grading geophysical data is the key to successful computer-aided log analysis. Using improperly collected raw log data will distort lithoporosity, resistivity-porosity, and log vs core crossplots resulting in improper interpretation for lithology, porosity, rock type, formation-water resistivity, and hydrocarbon saturation. Use of preinterpretation crossplots and special tests permits grading of data points, leading to discrimination and often elimination of data that would otherwise distort interpretation. In some cases, unacceptable portions of one log may be edited or restored using information from the other measurements.
