Design and development of a multi-kilowatt hour hydrogen/nickel oxide battery
Technical Report

OSTI ID:7053391
Work continued to develop a sealed, hydrogen/nickel oxide battery for deep discharge, 20-year life, terrestrial energy storage applications that would be cost-competitive with lead-acid batteries. The latest battery delivered to Sandia has five individual prismatic cells in a common pressure vessel; the cells are connected in series resulting in a nominal six volts. Thicker positive electrodes developed during the contract increased the capacity of the cells from about 100 Ah to 145 Ah.
