Controlled-potential bias circuit for electrochemical cells
A bias circuit is described for an electrochemical cell including anode, cathode and reference terminals, the bias circuit comprising an amplifier having an output electrically connected to the anode of the cell, a positive input connected to the reference terminal, and a negative input; and voltage setting means connected to the negative input of the amplifier for establishing a predetermined voltage difference. The voltage setting means is effective for establishing a voltage drop defined by the voltage difference between the output and the negative input of the amplifier, whereby the predetermined voltage difference is independent of the current variation between the anode and cathode terminals of the electrochemical cell.
