Parameters relating corrosion inhibitor treatment methods and treatment life times

This paper describes the effects of different treatment methods on treatment effectiveness in gas wells. A study of wellhead treatment methods and batch treatment of a pipeline are used to describe treatment life. The change in iron count and corrosion rate measured by linear polarization are used to determine film life. Film life in high velocity flow conditions is shown to be in the order of minutes. Batch treatment life is described as film life plus time for an inhibitor to slough off the pipe walls and feed through the system. The data were collected from fields where inhibitors have been used successfully for several years.
