Neutron-scattering studies of the high-temperature spin dynamics of ferromagnetic materials

Conference ·
OSTI ID:7052087
The two approaches to understanding the magnetic properties of materials are the localized Heisenberg model and the band theory of electrons. Neutron scattering results at elevated temperatures will be discussed in terms of these models for EuO, Gd, and Ni. It is found that measurements near and above the Curie temperature T/sub c/ are particularly useful for distinguishing between models for ferromagnetism in these materials.
