Distorted vortex in Josephson-coupled layered superconductors

The free energy functional for a single vortex in a system of Josephson-coupled superconducting layers is derived in terms of coordinates of two-dimensional vortices, pancakes,'' which make the vortex line.'' The energy consists of equally important two-, three-, and four-pancake interactions.
