Double decoupling in doubly odd deformed nuclei: Structure of /sup 186/Ir

An analytical characterization of the conditions for double decoupling in doubly odd deformed nuclei is given within the framework of the rotational mode. The stimulus for this investigation originates in the observation of a band in /sup 186/Ir, which is possibly the first case where such a coupling scheme is realized.
