Transient one dimensional conduction in a slab during direct resistance and induction heating is studied analytically. Solutions are carried out simultaneously because of their similarity. Effect of applied current frequency on the temperature variation is discussed. Advantages of direct resistance heating and induction heating for certain industrial applications are pointed out.
