Energetic photon production cross sections in proton-deuteron reactions at intermediate proton incident energies are calculated by using a meson-exchange potential model for describing the elementary nucleon-nucleon bremsstrahlung amplitude. The convection, magnetization, and exchange current contributions as well as the kinematics prescribed by the momentum distribution of the deuteron are included explicitly. The results are compared with the recent data of the Grenoble and Michigan State groups. The absolute cross sections are consistently underpredicted by {similar to}(20--40)% which indicates that further work is required for a better understanding of the elementary {ital pn} bremsstrahlung process.
