The use of double mixed reactors in study and modeling of gas-liquid reaction rates

Conference · · Am. Chem. Soc., Div. Pet. Chem., Gen. Pap., Prepr.; (United States)

Gas-liquid reactions are quite common in various chemical industries. As a typical example of such reactions, sulfonation of aromatic compounds by gaseous sulfur trioxide may be mentioned. These reactions, depending on the reactivity of the substrate being sulfonated, exhibit different behavior. Some of these properties have been discussed previously. In this paper, the use of a double mixed reactor in the study of macrokinetics of chlorobenzene and sulfonation by gaseous sulfur trioxide is reported.
