Synthesis and characterization of perovskite-type BaTl sub 0. 5 Sb sub 0. 5 O sub 3 and BaTl sub 0. 5+x Sb sub 0. 5 minus x ( sub 3 minus x )

BaTl{sub 0.5}Sb{sub 0.5}O{sub 3} has been synthesized for the first time and has a perovskite-related structure. Neutron diffraction studies show that this compound is isostructural to BaPbO{sub 3}. Solid solutions of the type BaTl{sub 0.5+x}Sb{sub 0.5{minus}x}O{sub 3{minus}x} are also prepared for x values up to 0.5; electrical measurements showed that all the compounds are semiconducting.
