A survey of containment and recovery techniques for cold weather, inland oil spills covers techniques for onshore spills, including surface blocking, trenching, surface flooding, subsurface flushing, snow absorption, and conventional pumping and sorption techniques; techniques for spills with stationary water with broken ice cover, e.g., portable skimmers, and with solid ice cover, where the techniques for onshore spills can be used; techniques for spills with moving water with broken ice cover, e.g., the use of ice-filter booms separate from oil containment booms, and with solid ice cover, e.g., the Mark II-4E Oil Mop skimmer.
