Implosion experiments with 1 TW of 1.05 ..mu..m laser light uniformly illuminating 120 ..mu..m diameter DT-filled glass shell targets have demonstrated modest improvements when the fuel is frozen into a solid layer compared to an equal mass of gaseous fuel.
