A three-dimensional television system utilizing standard television components and human binocular vision is described. Video from two cameras is multiplexed and displayed on a standard monitor. Each user is provided a viewer having electronically controlled shutters for each eye. Any number of users can view a single monitor. The user is not limited to a fixed position and, thus, there is minimum interference with other duties. The system is compatible with standard cameras (either black and white or color) as well as standard transmission lines, lighting, monitors, and video recording.
