By adding a symmetry-breaking source term of the form {ital Hi}{bar {psi}}{gamma}{sub 5}{tau}{sub 3}{psi} to the Wilson fermion action for two degenerate flavors of quarks, we provide evidence for the existence of a phase at large values of the hopping parameter {kappa} in which both parity {ital and} flavor symmetries are spontaneously broken and which is separate from the high-temperature'' phase. This is done by means of numerical simulations of lattice QCD employing the hybrid Monte Carlo algorithm.
