System for compensating an oxygen sensor in an emission control system

Patent ·
OSTI ID:7034046

A system for compensating an oxygen sensor in an emission control system for an automotive engine having a fuel supply device for supplying fuel to cylinders, the oxygen sensor, a control circuit responsive to the output of the oxygen sensor for controlling the air-fuel ratio of mixture to stoichiometry, is described comprising; proportion and integration circuit means included in the control circuit for producing a PI signal at a constant of proportionality and a constant of integration; first means for detecting the steady state of the operation of the engine; second means for detecting the period of the output of the oxygen sensor at the steady state detected by the first means; a comparator for comparing the period detected by the second means with a predetermined reference value and for producing a difference signal when the period is longer than the reference value; third means for changing the constant of proportionality and integration responsive to the difference signal so as to correct the deviation of the air-fuel ratio from the stoichiometry.
