A valve train for an internal combustion engine, the internal combustion engine including a cylinder head having a pair of intake and exhaust ports, the valve train is described comprising: (a) a camshaft housing adapted to be mounted on the cylinder head to define a camshaft chamber; (b) a pair of intake and exhaust valves mounted on the cylinder head so as to be moveable for closing and opening the intake and exhaust ports respectively; (c) mounting means on the cylinder head disposed within the camshaft; (d) a camshaft mounted within the camshaft chamber for rotation about an axis thereof and disposed between the cylinder head and the mounting means; (e) a pair of elongated rocker arms interposed between the camshaft and the mounting means; and (f) a pair of hydraulic tappets mounted on the mounting means.
