Catalytic dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons over tin-containing crystalline microporous materials

Patent ·
OSTI ID:7017063
This patent describes a process for producing an unsaturated analog from a compound containing an aliphatic moiety of 2 to 5 carbon atoms consisting essentially of contacting, under dehydrogenation conditions, a feed selected from the group consisting of the compound; the compound admixed with hydrogen; the compound admixed with a diluent insert to dehydrogenation conditions; and the compound admixed with hydrogen and the diluent; with a non-acidic catalyst wherein the catalyst consists essentially of a dehydrogenation metal and a nonacidic microporous material containing tin. Wherein the microporous material is isostructural with zeolite and contains aluminum in an amount less than 0.1 weight percent. Wherein the amount of dehydrogenation metal comprises 0.01 to 30 weight percent of the composition and the amount of tin ranges from about 0.05 to 20 weight percent of the composition; and producing as a product the unsaturated analog.
