In order to determine the solvent extractables in petroleum waxes, a sample is dissolved in a mixture consisting of 50% by volume methyl ethyl ketone and 50% toluene. The solution is cooled to -32/sup 0/C to precipitate the wax, and then the mixture is filtered. The solvent is evaporated from the filtrate, and the remaining residue is weighed for a measure of the solvent extractables.
