The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of cold worked stainless steels in 288 C water containing a slight amount of chloride ion was studied by creviced bent beam (CBB) test. The SCC susceptibility tends to increase with cold work ratio. The relationship between the SCC susceptibility and mechanical property was examined, and it was clarified that SCC occurred above a certain hardness. The polarization curves of cold worked stainless steel were measured in 5% sulfuric acid at 30 C, and it was recognized that the current density of passive region increased with a cold work ratio.
