A novel numerical method has been employed to investigate the flow patterns of a viscous, incompressible fluid in a rectangular domain of small aspect ratio whose vertical walls have been exposed to an exponential temperature variation. The influence of Grashof number on the flow, for a fixed aspect ratio and Prandtl number is used to explain the overall buoyancy exchange.
