The National Appliance Energy Conservation Act of 1986 amends the Energy Policy and Conservation Act by establishing minimum performance standards and design requirements. The bill introduces new definitions relating to efficiency and the application of appliances. The standards will be restricted to household appliances, and will not include recreational equipment. Section 4 outlines performance testing procedures and places restrictions on manufacturer advertisements. Other sections deal with compliance, waivers, citizen complaints and suits, and enforcement.
