A combustion chamber for internal combustion engines, of the type including means for producing swirl within the combustion chamber is described comprising: a combustion chamber provided in the head portion of a piston in the form of a cavity recessed in the axial direction of the piston; fuel injection nozzle means disposed in the combustion chamber and positioned eccentrically with respect to the axis of the combustion chamber; a thermal insulation member in the form of a thin plate provided within the inner wall and forming a part of the wall surface and insulation member defining only a portion of the inner wall on which the fuel films are formed.
