In the hydrochlorination of 1,2-alkadienylphosphonous acids with a tertiary carbon atom in the 3 position of the allenic system in polar solvents cyclization occurs with the formation of 1,2-oxaphosphol-3-enes with a phosphorus-hydrogen bond. When nonpolar solvents are used, as well as cyclic products, products of the addition of hydrogen chloride at the 1,2-double bond of the allenic system are formed: (2-chloro-2-alkenyl)phosphonous acids. The PMR spectra were determined on a Tesla BS-497 spectrometer (100 MHz); the authors examined 20-25% solutions in (CD/sub 3/)/sub 2/SO; internal standard hexamethyldisiloxane.
