Dither suspension mechanism for a ring laser angular rate sensor

In a laser angular rate sensor having a laser block driven about an axis by a dither suspension mechanism, the dither suspension mechanism is described comprising: a first flexure plate having a central axis, the first flexure plate having, a central member, and spring members having first and second ends, extending from the central member with the first ends of the spring members rigidly fixed to the central member; a housing having an aperture for receiving the laser block, the housing aperture being bounded by an annular inner wall about a central axis therethrough, the aperture capable of receiving the laser block and the first flexure plate; means for rigidly securing together the laser block and the central member of the first flexure plate; and means for rigidly securing the second ends of the first plurality of spring members to the annular inner wall.
